From the Organisers report:
The recent Mtec - Sensors, Measurement and Instrumentation, featuring
Industrial Networks, exhibition drew flattering comments from exhibitors
and was considered to have exceeded exhibitor's and visitor's
expectations.
Co-located with Machine Building - Drives & Automation, IPOT - Machine
Vision & Displays Technology and Practical Vacuum, these
industry-leading events attracted over 4,200 people who pre-registered
and visited the shows.
Mtec was supported by a full programme of free workshops and seminars
that were equally well attended on both days of the exhibition.
Jill Wadge, the Mtec Show Manager, is absolutely delighted with the
results saying 'Mtec is the leading event of its type in the UK and this
year, we had to expand the floor plan on three occasions to cope with
the demand in space requirements. I have received many positive comments
from exhibitors, both during the show and afterwards, who have already
rebooked for next year and Mtec 2008 promises to be a bumper event'.
In fact more than 60% of stand space has been sold and reserved in the
two weeks since the 2007 show ended, which equates to 75 exhibitors.
These include the likes of PR Electronics, Huba Control AG, Variohm,
Festo Ltd, Raytek UK, National Instruments, Renishaw plc, and WIKA
Instruments.
The 2008 Mtec Exhibition will be held in Hall 11 of the NEC and, as
before, will be co-located with Trident's other focussed industrial
events, on 13th & 14th February 2008. For further information on
exhibiting at Mtec, contact Jill Wadge on +44 (0)1822 614671,

Vision Seminars Take A 'Holistic' Approach
The regular series of free seminars organised by UKIVA at IPOT (co-show
to mtec) will be taking on a rather different theme. This time, the
seminars will focus on 'Holistic Vision' and they will concentrate on
the totality of solving problems with vision, including optics and
lighting, as well as cameras and software and other components. UKIVA
Director, Don Braggins, said: "Our seminars in the past have been
extremely well received, but have often concentrated on one particular
aspect of vision, such as a particular type of camera, or an interface
standard or a lighting arrangement. Solving vision problems in an
industrial or scientific environment requires every aspect of vision to
be considered. This ranges from the illumination, image acquisition,
processing and measurement, through to the outcome of the process,
whether in the form of a signal sent to a reject mechanism or an alert
to a production operator or a printed report."
GigE vision focus
Also at IPOT Firstsight Vision will be showing the first new GigE
Vision cameras for 2007 from Jai and Dalsa. These will include a new,
high-speed camera in the Genie series from Dalsa. Genie cameras combine
standard gigabit Ethernet technology with Dalsa's 'Trigger to Image
Reliability' framework to dependably capture and transfer images from
the camera to the host PC.
Pressure mapping systems
The well established top of
the range I-Scan system from Tekscan just became more portable and easier to use, with the
introduction of the "Evolution USB handle". This device allows instant USB connection of Tekscan's
0.1mm thick Mylar pressure sensors to any notebook PC running Windows XP. In order to make the
I-Scan system even more portable, Tekscan have introduced a software version that runs on a PDA and
which will communicate with the Evolution handle, thus enabling pressure mapping measurements to be
carried out almost anywhere. This package is ideal for field work, machinery set-up and control or
for use where weight or available space is at a premium.
The 2006 Machine Building event, had a total of 33 exhibitors. Currently, for the 2007 show, 51 exhibitors have booked with space still available. This represents an incredible 54% increase in stand sales, 'which proves Machine Building's value as the premier event of its type for 2007.'
