Robert V Gilbert RiP The death has been announced of Bob Gilbert. Well known in the Irish automation industry he was founder of Manotherm in the 1960s. Originally in Corn Exchange Buildings in Dublin city centre. It then moved to its current location on the Walkinstown Road further out from town.
We extend our sympathy to his wife, family and colleagues in Manotherm.

It’s been another busy year for hackers. According to the Central Statistics Office, nearly 1 in 5 (18 %) of Irish businesses experienced ICT-related incidents, 87 per cent of which resulted in the unavailability of ICT services, and 41% which resulted in either the destruction, corruption or disclosure of data.

The role of monitoring in Natural Flood Management. - Flooding is a natural process, but it endangers lives and causes heavy economic loss. Protecting offshore process analysers. -
Shelters fabricated from glassfibre-reinforced polyester are protecting gas metering instrumentation from the harsh North Sea environment on an offshore platform upgrade project engineered by Oil & Gas Systems. Two outdoor shelters - supplied by Intertec Instrumentation - provide lightweight and corrosion-resistant protection for gas chromatograph analyzers and process transmitters mounted above new natural gas export pipelines connecting the platform to an onshore British gas terminal.

Vibrating fork level high & low pressure. - The Liquiphant FTL51B and FTL41 vibrating fork (vibronic) level instruments has been released by Endress + Hauser. Simplifying bridge sensor measurements. - Acromag’s new TT351 load cell and strain gauge signal conditioners use software to quickly select from a wide variety of sensor measurement options. A USB port simplifies setup on a Windows PC or Android mobile device with Acromag’s AgilityTM app. Software menus help users set the sensor type, bridge configuration, excitation source, filtering level, and input/output ranges.
