Machine vision benfits from acquisition. - Stemmer Imaging is systematically continuing on its international growth trajectory. To this end, the Group has today implemented an essential strategic plan of its expansion strategy with the agreement to acquire the Spanish company Infaimon S.L., a provider of software and hardware for machine vision and robotics.
Power Inductors. - Coilcraft’s new XAL7050 Series of high-temperature power inductors are available with inductance values from 22 to 47 µH and current ratings as high as 5.5 Amps, with low DCR for greater efficiency. For lower inductance values, Coilcraft offers a lower-profile companion, the XAL7030, with an identical footprint and inductance range of 0.16 to 10 µH. Rotary shaft programmable angle sensor. - Variohm EuroSensor’s new Euro-CMRS series miniature angle sensors offer programmable angles from 30° to 360° in 1° increments in a non-contacting and long-life Hall Effect design that includes a durable IP68-sealed aluminium housing with 18 mm PCD mounting and a micro 4 mm diameter 316 stainless steel D-type shaft. Output options - from an industry standard 5 VDC input - cover CW or CCW direction with single or dual redundant angle measurement at ratiometric or PWM signal levels.
Angled IEC C14 Power Connectors. - Schaffner has introduced a new series of locking cables for any IEC C14 application. The newest connector in the IL13 family sets a benchmark in space limited locking situations. The angled construction the connector allows it to be used with devices standing next to a wall or in table-top applications. Update enhances developer productivity. - National Instruments (NI) has announced the latest release of LabVIEW 2019 and LabVIEW NXG. These releases are proof of NI’s continued investment in the next generation of LabVIEW and systems engineering software. NI continues to focus efforts around optimisation in the test and measurement processes in key areas of test development integration, efficient automated testing, and access to data & systems.
Finalists for awards. - Intelliconnect (Europe) have been nominated as finalists in four categories in the prestigious Electronics Industry Awards 2019.These are Interconnection Product of the Year, Electronics Manufacturer of the Year, Excellence in Innovation and Best Customer Service.
Flexibility and production enhanced at German chemical plant. - As part of its five-year investment to boost capacity and operational excellence within its global plastics additives business, BASF has awarded Emerson a multi-million-dollar contract to modernise automation software and controllers at its specialty chemical production facility in Lampertheim (D). These enhancements will help the world’s largest chemical manufacturer increase production flexibility and enhance operations. Sensors for small-scale process. - Balluff is expanding their range of sensors for media-contacting temperature detection, in hydraulic power units for example. New are a temperature sensor with display, a temperature transmitter as well as a PT1000 sensor . 87 million nodes. - ProfiBUS & ProfiNet International (PI) has concluded its annual notarised count of the installed base of devices with interfaces using communication technologies from PI. As in previous years, the numbers from 2018 indicate a very positive trend. 25 years in sound & vibration. - AcSoft Sound & Vibration is celebrating 25 years as one of Britain's leading specialists in high performance sound and vibration instrumentation and sensors for a wide range of sectors including environmental, automotive, aerospace, transport and telecommunications.
Acquisition strengthens software portfolio. - Mitsubishi has announced the acquisition of ICONICS. This partnership is to strengthen Mitsubishi’s software portfolio and technology for the manufacturing, industrial, and building automation markets. ICONICS’ advanced software products are used for SCADA, HMI, IoT, mobile, analytics and cloud applications.
American user group for Texas in September. - The 2020 Yokogawa Users Conference and Exhibition is scheduled for August 31 - September 3, 2020 at the Woodlands, (TX USA). Cybersecurity and lifecycle costs reduced at British power supplier. - Westermo has helped Electricity North West (GB) to enhance cybersecurity and reduce the lifecycle costs of a data communications network which supports the electricity distribution network in the North West region. Westermo industrial networking technology has been used to create a resilient IP-based network that has enabled the implementation of services such as NMS (Network Management Service) and CLASS (Customer Load Active System Services). A revolutionary new idea - Camille Bauer Metrawatt AG sets a new standard for creating mains quality compliance reports, conveniently and without expensive software. The function is easy to use and is called PQ EasyReporting.
Displaying connectors. - A Mini Displayport has been added to Cliff Electronics' range of FeedThrough connectors. Assembled into an industry standard XLR connector panel cut out the Mini DisplayPort (MiniDP or mDP) is a miniaturised version of the widely used DisplayPort audio-visual digital interface.
Test instruments for university lab. - Rohde & Schwarz has won a contract to supply test equipment for the newly refurbished Electronic Engineering teaching laboratory at the University of Essex (GB). With 16,500 students from over 140 countries situated across three campuses, the University of Essex is internationally diverse and rated as one of Britain’s top universities.
Whether fieldbus? - a study. - The annual analysis of the industrial network market from HMS, which focuses on new installed nodes within factory automation globally. This study includes their estimation for 2019 based on number of new installed nodes in 2018 within Factory Automation. A node is defined as a machine or device connected to an industrial network. The presented figures represent HMS' consolidated view, taking into account insights from colleagues in the industry, our own sales statistics and overall perception of the market. Scholorships awards. - The ISA Water & Wastewater Industries Division (WWID) has anounced the winners of the 2019 WWID Student Scholarships. The scholarships are given out to promote higher learning and to encourage students to pursue technical careers in the municipal water/wastewater sector. This year’s recipients are Ivana Tieu and Jared Hunter. Train connections! - Data networks in trains can now be implemented reliably and in a future-proof manner using the preLink® system and EtherRail® cables, which are specially designed for railway requirements. With Ethernet delivered via one pair of wires, rail operators can reduce their operating costs and optimise production. This requires new cabling systems, which Harting has developed to ensure reliable and fast internet in trains.
Cybersecurity Maturity Model - ARC Advisory Group released its first Industrial Cybersecurity Maturity Model in 2016 to help clients manage industrial cybersecurity investments. The model provided a framework for non-technical managers to understand the risk reduction benefits of cybersecurity technologies and the coverage of supplier products. Industrial cybersecurity has changed significantly since ARC released that first model. Non-destructive testing – a food waste reduction opportunity? - Food waste reduction is a key objective for consumers, businesses and governments seeking to save money, improve food production efficiency, lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduce packaging waste and protect the environment. Such issues have enjoyed a high profile in recent years but in this article Dr Abdel Ezbiri from the technology company Cerulean discusses the waste that results from the temperature testing of fresh and chilled foods, and outline the success that some food processors have achieved in adopting non-destructive testing (NDT) technology.
