Hannover Fair
Interkama 2004 - Review

19 April 2004 - 24 April 2004

The world's biggest instrumentation and control exhibition!

At INTERKAMA+ 2004 in Hannover some 800 exhibitors occupying a total of around 30,000 square metres in Halls 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 provided an overview of the complete spectrum of process automation: automation and IT solutions, field devices and components, control and regulatory systems, as well as engineering, maintenance and services. The new INTERKAMA+ took place this year for the first time in conjunction with the HANNOVER FAIR.

"A complete array of industrial automation technology at a single venue - this is the guiding philosophy behind the new collaboration between INTERKAMA+ and the HANNOVER MESSE. The integration of INTERKAMA+ into the HANNOVER MESSE as from 2004 complies exactly with the requirements of the target groups. The product categories will complement each other perfectly and underline the leading role of INTERKAMA+ as well as the HANNOVER MESSE. This combination at a single venue will cover the entire spectrum of process and production automation technology as well as the complete range of industrial software and IT. In short, an ideal opportunity to unlock new sources of business potential."

About Hannover

NEWS - NUACHT
These are details of stands submitted to us for inclusion here..
  • When the going gets hot...
Recording of limit levels during filling level measurement is based on diverse physical measuring principles, such as conductive probes, float switches or optical sensors. These methods can be limited by confined installation conditions, overflow detection complying with WHG (German Water Resources Act) or high temperatures. The new Vibracon Mini LVL-A5 from Pepperl + Fuchsprovides the solution for applications involving high temperatures and confined installation conditions. It can also be used as an overflow detector complying with WHG and as a leakage sensor.

  • New, high-performance ATCA systems -
In the telecommunications branch, the demands for greater bandwidth, higher integration densities and improved availability will no doubt continue to grow unabated in the future. The Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture AdvancedTCATM was developed specifically to address these demands, and Rittal offers a corresponding high-performance system in the form of its ATCA shelf. ATCA offers the advantage of a scalable architecture, supporting a wide variety of standardised and proprietary fabric interfaces. The aim is to combine efficient system monitoring with high system performance and effective heat dissipation. With its new packaging systems, Rittal is supporting the latest developments of leading manufacturers.

  • Process and Program Controller with new functions -
The IMAGO 500 from JUMO GmbH & Co. KG, Fulda, Germany, has become firmly established as a universal instrument in a wide range of sectors and applications. During the last year and a half, in which the instrument has proven itself in the market, additional customer requirements have been drawn up, which have now been implemented in the production model.

  • State of the art positioner -
The intelligent positioner ARCAPRO Type 827A from ARCA Regler, the mother company of the international ARCA Flow Group, can now also be mounted to stroke positioners in accordance with VDI/VDE 3847. The standardised mechanic and pneumatic interface between positioner and actuator allows a pipeless mounting that is interchangeable among different manufacturers. The newly designed and powerful mounting has an extremely compact construction of high mechanical strength. Because the mounting is done only by two bolts the changing of the positioner is easily done within short notice.

  • First ever hand held FDT solution -
M&M Software displayed an impressive range of FDT products. They launched the first ever handheld FDT solution, fdtCONTAlNER pocket- frame. With the fdtCONTAlNER pocket-frame they have developed a tool to compliment an Asset Management System based on FDT. M&M can support the complete life cycle with tools and services, from the development of a strategy, to the complete realization of a software development project, to testing the final solution. They can also help with software issues beyond the FDT standard. We have provided individual-software for over 17 years that is customized PC-based development for Factory and Process strategy, Framework Architectures and Visualization are only some examples of their projects.

  • HART Communication Foundation delivers new asset management strategies -
The HART Communication Foundation (HCF) brings a powerful message on the industry's hottest topic - asset management to Ithe show. The multiple-company exhibit (Hall 6 #C48) will demonstrate the latest HART-smart products and Asset Optimization solutions from the world's leading process automation companies. Interactive displays will show practical solutions for integrating the intelligence in HART-smart field devices into control, safety and asset management systems to improve plant operations, increase plant availability, lower maintenance costs and aid regulatory compliance.

  • FF hosts end user events -
The Fieldbus Foundation are planning a major exhibition of Foundation technology and applications experience. In addition to the live device 'Wall of Fame', member host system kiosks and 'Solutions Centre', an extensive program of key events and activities throughout the show will ensure that anyone involved with any aspect of the specification, installation or maintenance of a fieldbus system will greatly benefit. The Fieldbus Foundation will hold its European End User Council (EEUC) meeting on Wednesday 21st April, to which the end user community, including end users, systems integrators and engineering contractors, are invited to attend.

  • Eclipse talks Fieldbus Foundation -
Magnetrol International, innovator and leader in process control level and flow instrumentation will launch the Eclipse Model 705 Guided Wave Radar Transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus H1 capabilities further enhancing the successful Eclipse product family. The Eclipse Guided Wave Radar is known for its stable and accurate measurement and has gained worldwide confidence as a superior but lower cost replacement of displacer and DP transmitters.

  • Open Channel Flow monitoring solution -
In response to a growing need from companies in all kinds of industries to monitor, control and report their effluent flow, Pulsar have put together flo-pak, providing everything required for open channel flow measurement and data logging from a PMD (primary measuring device) such as a flume or a weir. The flo-pak includes Pulsar's Flow Oracle 160 and dB3 transducer, one of the leading non-contacting ultrasonic open channel flow systems, in use in hundreds of applications worldwide. The dB3 transducer operates at 125Khz, the highest frequency in the market giving unrivalled accuracy and resolution.

  • Compact pressure sensors -
With a housing diameter of just 22 mm, Turck's new pressure sensor is especially compact and easy to fit. The devices in robust metal housings excel in their high overpressure resistance and admissible pressure ranges of up to 600 bar. The new housing series comprises pressure transmitters with analogue output and pressure controls
