New torque sensor to revolutionise machine control-
The new RWT-310 and RWT-320 Rotary Torque Sensors units from Sensor Technology, utilise a non-contact measurement technique, so reduce the previously difficult task of accurate real-time torque monitoring to the simple task of literally mounting the transducer close to the machine drive shaft under investigation. As such they stand to completely redefine the expectations of machine builders and control engineers. RWT-320 sensors also feature integral electronics with digital and analog outputs for torque, speed and power, are user programmable for analog signal levels, and are directly compatible with PC Interfaces such as serial and USB.
Control networks highlighted!
Carlo Gavazzi will feature their Dupline and controls product ranges including panel build timers, relays, monitoring relays and energy management components products. Included on their stand will be interactive display boards. The Dupline demonstration will show the basics of the systems' networking capabilities and also its integration with our energy meters, plus other manufacturer's PLCs and Operator Interfaces. The 2-wire Dupline bus together with the extensive Dupline range, which includes: digital and analogue I/O modules, PLC and PC interfaces, HMIs and modems, enable multiple digital and analogue signals to be transmitted over several kilometres to support event monitoring and process control for a wide range of applications. These include building automation, water distribution, energy management, railway systems and many other areas. This range is complemented by an online data hosting service which allows access to recorded data from any PC or Internet connection

E=motion!
A major attraction at this years show, the E=motion land speed car. This mustard-yellow, 10 metre long, needle-shaped car is the brainchild of ABB and the Primetime Engineering team. Driver Mark Newby and engineer Colin Fallows are pinning their hopes on E=motion breaking the existing world speed record for electrically powered vehicles - currently standing at 245mph.

The AS-Interface UK Association is re-launching itself as the AS-Interface 'Expert Alliance' at the Drives and Controls Show, October 12-14, Telford, where it will be the main feature of the AS-Interface booth. Alliance Experts are also presenting two identical half-day seminars, taking place on the mornings of Wednesday October 12th and Thursday October 13th to give visitors a choice of days to attend. Representatives from the Health and Safety Executive are supporting both seminars to explain the Regulatory background for networked safety systems.
A web-based Expert Alliance service will shortly be available. This will have other online features to build additional value for vendors and end users.
