Largest ever presence Eurotherm Drives had its biggest ever presence the show, with every product from its immense and diverse range represented, and with many new products on show for the first time. Key new products include the 650 range of highly cost effective AC drives in powers from 0.25-90kW. A major launch at the show were a number of enhancements to their top of the range 690+ Series AC drives. This includes for the first time a full quadrant regenerative front end.
New products from EMS
Electro Mechanical Systems launch three new encoders which can be coupled to the recently introduced 4490-B rare earth magnet brushless DC motor from System Faulhaber. The new encoders are: the hermetically sealed 1000 line 3-channel encoder: a 40B27 normally closed 1000 line 3-channel encoder; and a Hewlett Packard HEDL554O encoder with 500 lines and 3 channels.
Rotary torque transducers
Sensor Technology showed their new range of Torqsense low cost non-contact rotary torque transducers. Rotary torque has historically bees difficult and expensive to measure. The patented method uses Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices as frequency dependant strain gauges to measure the change in resonant frequency caused by the applied strain in a shaft.
Portable test instruments
Fluke (UK) Ltd exhibited a range of portable test instruments including the very latest 110, 270 and 180 series Digital Multimeters, electrical test tools and the new 1900 Colour Scopemeter. The Fluke 1900 offers a wide range of functions for troubleshooting electronic and electrical systems. For power quality troubleshooting the Fluke 43 combines power quality analysis, DMM and Oscilloscope. The unit captures transients, analyses harmonics, record motor start up currents and provided power measurements in one simple tool.
New internet portal The Bosch Rexroth Internet Portal is now online. It has been built up step by step to a customer-orientated eCommerce portal. The company is using this to present its Drive&Control range also on the Internet, creating an integrated access to all information on products, services and web-based business processes.
Motion control brochure
An informative new brochure from motion control specialist, Goodwin Electronicss, showcases the company's state-of-the-art MultiStop motion control unit. As well as detailing the MultiSto p's comprehensive range of standard and optional features and the unit's electrical and mechanical specifications, the new brochure also combines illustrations of sample screens with diagrammatic examples of typical applications. The brochure also includes a useful reference section covering the MultiSto p's easyto-use Powertalk language.
New fingertip-controlled joystick and sealed sensor Penny & Giles Controlss launched a new range of single-axis fingertipcontrolled joysticks on their stand. The new J0120 joystick complements the existing JC100 model, but differs in several important areas and will be offered as an additional model for new and existing customer applications.

She loves me! Pittman introduced a revolutionary, new slotless brushless dc motor. Combining a patented winding, sealed rotor assembly and sloiless stator the motor is a truly unique product with a host of usable performance benefits. The motor is capable of extremely high speeds - in excess of 50000 rpm - due to it's superbly balanced rotor. The compact, slotless construction and patented 1 50 degC winding mean that a massive 42mNm continuous torque can be obtained from the 22mm diameter. Being brushless the motor is designed to provide operational life over 20,000 hours and this can be further extended by changing the replaceable rotor assembly which is easily removed. It's autoclavability and small size make this motor ideal for many dental and other handheld medical applications, like bone cutters, etc.
Motion control products from Quin With a range of powerful motion control products and a team of highly skilled, multi-disciplined engineers, Quin Systems provide complete solutions for a wide variety of applications for factory automation such as pharmaceutical, packaging, paper converting, printing, textiles, automotive, confectionery, grinding and many other special purpose machinery. Quin are able to undertake projects which include mechanical design as well as systems and both linear and rotary motion control through their worldwide network of distributors.
Easy to use products
Schneider Electric Limited launched its new range of easy-to-use motion control products. The Lexium line of servo drives, ac brushless motors and PLC motion modules cover a broad power range and is extremely flexible, ideal for applications from the most demanding to simple low-cost general purpose motion solutions. Also on display will be the Twin Line family of stepper motors, drives, and modular servo products which complement the Lexium range.
