  • Emerson Process Management Press Briefing -

"Now I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and the brolly was already in service on the walk back to Victoria, but where's this all going to end - a nice pair of Schneider branded secateurs, an Invensys central heating boiler or some Honeywell branded underpants?..." IAI March 2001
A press conference held in London today ended with an unusual presentation. Andrew Bond, the publisher of the perceptive and incisive Industrial Automation Insider (IAI), had made some comments on the distribution of "freebies" by companies last March which was taken up by Emerson Project Management's Director Travis Hesketh who presented him with a truly unique pair of unmentionables engraved with the Emerson escutchon.

Despite many pleas from the assembled hacks he did not try them for size then and there despite the sugestion that he ware them over his cloths a la Superman.

Mutterings were heard saying how appropriate that Emerson Process Management should present FOUNDATION clothing!

  • Manufacturing Excellence Week
Ron Migliorini, VP Sales & marketing, Rosemount, Richard Beck, Engineering manager, Instruments and Systems, Kvaerner E&C UK and Travis Hesketh, Programme Director, Manufacturing Excellence Week 2002
The press conference was organised by Emerson Process Management to introduce various new initiatives and products.

It included the launch of Manufacturing Excellence Week with Kvaerner.

This Pan-European Process Control Event is a four day training forum at the end of April 2002 in Warrington, near Liverpool in England. It builds on last years event which was attended by over 240 people. Entitled "Manufacturing Excellence through Automation and Asset management" there will be six lecture streams.

    • Project Execution
    • Attaining World Class Manufacturing
    • Connecting to Corporate IT
    • The Culture of Success
    • Safety and Standards
    • Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals.

Progress on the development of this unique event may be followed on their web site www.manufacturingexcellence.net

  • The new 3051S Series of Instrumentation and DeltaV Plantweb Alerts.

The 3051S Series..."stands out as the most significant development this year... they boldly introduced a new design that is as creative as it is practical...does away with problematic impulse linesŠ will forever change how we look at..." pressure transmitters, according to an analysis from ARC Advisory Group in September.

Modern intelligent field instrumentation and devices provide self-checking and fault diagnostics - both for themselves and their process connections. Up to now, any fault conditions detected are treated as normal process alarms by all control systems, so the operator in the control room has to call on a maintenance screen or site engineer to investigate further. Control systems have been trailing behind in their use of field intelligence. Now the latest version 6.3 of DeltaV from Emerson Process Management takes the next step, and provides an instant operator display and identification of all advisory and fault alarms directly on the operator screen, using PlantWeb Alerts.
