    Unique conference format

Conference offers unique opportunity directly  to compare 4 of the major Control and Automation Solutions available in Ireland today.

Title:  “Control and Automation in the Communications Era,”

    Conference Info: :       16th September 2003,

    Irchem 2003 Exhibition,

    Curraheen Park,

    Bishopstown,

    Cork,

    http://www.read-out.net/forum.

Manufacturers offer their solutions in an insulated environment which makes it very difficult to compare the pro / cons of these systems with their competition.

The second Read-out Forum offers participants an unique opportunity to compare and contrast four of the leading Control and Automation Systems’ under four important categories which will be lead by key note speakers from Irish Industry.

In response to this we have altered the standard conference format. Our keynote speaker will outline in 15 minutes their thoughts and opinions on a specific topic.  Then each manufacturer in sequence will have 10 Minutes to highlight how their system meets these criteria. This is followed by a question and answer session from the floor where the delegates attending the conference will be quickly able to question, compare and contrast the presentations.

The conference will be held as part of IRCHEM 2003, Ireland’s premier process and industrial exhibition. It is sponsored by ISA Ireland, the instrumentation, systems, and automation society. It will be held on 16th September 2003.

The conference will allow the attendees to examine  4 aspects of control in the modern era particularly in the light of the communications revolution of the last ten years.

Each segment is first addressed by a user or avowed expert in the particular field being examined. Then each manufacturer (ABB, Emerson, Honeywell and Siemens) give a presentation showing their particular take on that aspect.

    The conference topics are :

    • Control and Communication  - Future Proofing Your System

    • Electronic Paper / Batch Tracking  - the next level

    • Accessability and Interoperability of Control Systems

    • Security of Network, Data and prevention of hostile attacks on the system.

The organisers have been fortunate in securing Andrew Bond, possibly the leading independant commentator on control and automaation in Europe to chair the seminar.  He is the editor of the incisive “Industrial Automation Insider.” Other speakers come from mainland Europe, Britain and the US as well as from  Ireland.

    • Read-out is Ireland’s journal  of Instrumentation and Control and has been published for the past fifteen years. It has an enviable reputation in the instrumentation and control community not only in Ireland but throughout the world through the internet site known as the Instrumentation Signpost – www.read-out.net. This site was launched in 1994 and now welcomes approximately three thousand visitors per week. Read-out organised the first Read-out Forum some years ago and the subject was Fieldbus.

    • ISA Ireland is a section of the internation Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society. With more than 300 members it has been serving instrumentation and control professionals for the past twenty five years. Their website is www.iol.ie/~isaire.
