  • Brian M Ahern
      Brian is President and Chief Executive Officer of Verano. He is a graduate of (BSc - Electrical Engineering) the University of Vermont.
      Prior to joining Verano, he was president of Invensys Process Solutions, where he led the consolidation and business growth activities of a portfolio of seven software and engineering services companies acquired by Invensys. Over his seven year tenure with Invensys he lield several executive management positions including President, Simulation Sciences, me., VicePresident Worldwide Utility Sales & Marketing and an international assignment in Saudi Arabia witli responsibility for Middle East utility industry business development. Prior to joining Invensys Ahem worked for Parsons and Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation.
      Verano is a leading supplier of cyber-security management and control solutions for mission-critical industrial operations.

  • Andrew Bond
      Andrew, a graduate of Cambridge University - MA Mechanical Sciences -Engineering - has a long distinguished journalistic career and includes periods as Editor of Control and Instrumentation, Process Engineering, Computer Systems, European Process Engineer, Process Control and Instrumentation and Expert Systems Applications.
      More recently he has been editor of Industrial Automation Insider. Now in its seventh year of publication, Industrial Automation INSIDER (formerly SCADA Insider) is the UK's only independent subscription newsletter providing industrial measurement and control systems users and suppliers with a monthly update on the continuing evolution and convergence of systems technologies. Each month it reports on and provides informed comment on developments as they affect every industry sector from chemicals, petrochemicals and utilities to building automation, pharmaceuticals, food and drink and discrete piece part manufacture.

  • Seán Michael Cahill
      Seán is responsible for the Product Management and marketing of Process Control and Process Safety systems for Siemens Automation & Drives in the UK. He is also responsible for the management of User Group activities in conjunction with the User Council within the process automation sector for Siemens UK.
      Sean graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a HND in Industrial Computer Studies. He began his career as a Software Engineer in the manufacturing and process environments. Having spent six years in this role he moved on to become a Customer Support Engineer for the international customer base of an expert systems developer.
      A move into a sales environment then followed, during which time he also successfully completed an MSc in Marketing at the University of Huddersfield. Sean joined Siemens in 1999 as part of the PCS7 business development team, working in the Chemical, Power and Oil & Gas sectors. The move into Product Management followed in 2002

  • Joe Haugh
      Joe is Automation Discipline leader responsible for commissioning and validation of all automated system at Wyeth Grange Castle, Dublin. He served his apprentice in instrumentation and controls with Aughinish Alumina. He joined the Project Management Group in Cork and worked as an Instrumentation engineer and project manager. Work involved design and management of the automation systems for large scale pharma projects.A large part of my time was spent working with SmithKline Beecham Cork. Now with Zenith Technology and has been seconded to Wyeth as Automation Leader for plant commissioning and validation.

  • David McBrearty
      David is a senior engineer with MCOS of Ballincollig, Cork. He will discuss the accessibility and interoperability of control systems. "When you design a process control system today you need to look up and Down stream of the process and allow for any change factors which will affect this process and alter your control strategy to meet these."

  • Peter Malin
      Peter replaces Ulli Mueller at very short notice. He is a director of ABBin Ireland.




  • Dr Paul Murray
      IT Project Manager with Proscon. Paul is an acknowledged expert in the area of Electronic Batch Records having implemented the first such system roll-out for a major pharmaceutical company recently. Currently working as a Project Manager & Systems Consultant with ProsCon in the area of IT/MES. Provided consultancy and management experience to Pfizer, MSD, Schering Plough and Mallinckrodt. Project implementation experience on Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Plant Information Management Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Electronic Batch Records (EBR).

  • Eoin Ó Riain
      Publisher of Read-out, Ireland's journal of Instrumentation and Control as well as of the Instrumentation Signpost, Eoin has been active for over 30 years in the Irish instrumentation and control industry. He was involved in the setting up of the ISA Ireland section in 1977 and was president of the section in the early eighties when the very first ISA International Exhibition outside the US was organised in Dublin. Read-out became an independent publication in 1989 and has been published on a bimonthly basis and distributed to 2000 named I&C professionals throughout the island.
      One of the pioneers in the area of web publishing the Read-out Instrumentation Signpost was on line towards the end of 1994 and now boasts of almost 3000 visitors to the site per week.

  • Nick Taylor
      Nick, a graduate of the University of Warwick, holds both BSc & MEng in Manufacturing Systems. He is a member of ISA & ISPE. He is also a director of the WBF with responsibility for the WBF European Confe-rence. He is currently on the board of Newcastle University's MSc in Process Automation (PACT). His current role within the Project Sales team of Emerson Process Management's UK & Ireland Systems Division allows him to focus on batch control in the pharmaceutical & fine chemical industries. He has experienced a range of organisational cultures & technologies; Kent, ABB, Taylor, F & P, Bailey, Hartmann + Braun, as well as Emerson.

  • Alan Walsh
      Alan Walsh is a Lead Engineer for Honeywell's Industrial Solutions division based in the UK. During his time at Honeywell Alan has lead projects in Pulp & Paper, Oil & Gas, and Pharmaceutical Industries implementing all forms of Honeywell's control technologies.

  • Peadar Walsh
      Peadar is Director of Douglas Calibration Services, part of the Jones Group of companies. As the President of ISA Ireland for 2003/4 Read-out are delighted to welcome him as sponsors of the 2nd Read-out Forum.
      The Ireland Section, part of the worldwide ISA, the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society, is voluntary with a membership of over 360, received its charter in 1978 and has since grown to become a nationally recognised organisation. Its purpose is to bring together all personnel involved in instrumentation and related disciplines in order to enhance their capabilities in instrumentation design, manufacture and use.
