The speakers have been announced for the second Read-out Forum, to be held at IRCHEM in Cork on 16th September. This Forum addresses the issues of Traceability, Data processing in real time, and Security, which should be of particular concern to those who are involved in the Instrumentation and Control areas of the industries at the forefront in using technology, and who are aware of their vulnerability and accountability in the wake of the events of September 11th.

Speakers from industry - Ulli Mueller of ABB, Nick Taylor of Emerson Process Management, Chris Morse of Honeywell and Sean Cahill of Siemens - will respond by describing their company approaches to problems presented by the four keynote speakers.

Joe Haugh of Zenith Technology, currently seconded to Wyeth Grange Castje and responsible for commissioning and validation of all automated systems at Grange Castle, will discuss Control and Communication, with the problems of "Future Proofing" your system.

David McBrearty of MCOS Consulting Engineers, who specialise in water services and waste management in particular, will discuss Accessibility and Interoperability of Control Systems.

Brian Ahern, President of Verano, the first company to provide a comprehensive network security solution, will open the discussion on Security. There will be another speaker to introduce the problems associated with Electronic Records and Batch Tracking. Chairman for the day will be Andrew Bond, the leading commentator on I and C matters in Europe, through his "Industrial Automation Insider" newsletter.

A memorable and informative event is assured, with Andrew to point out inadequacies in the various arguments, and bring the commercial jargon down to earth.
