Fieldbus: A Way to Save!
This year marks the Centenary of the birth of Irish Physicist ETS Walton. Born in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Ernest Thomas Sinton Walton, emerged as one of the leading figures in the history of physics. In 1932, in collaboration with John Cockroft, his revolutionary experiment, in which he split the atom by artificial means, brought him to world attention and marked the birth of accelerator-based experimental nuclear physics. He was honoured with the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1951, the only Irishman to be so honoured. He presented his Nobel medal and citation to Trinity College, Dublin - where he was Head of the Physics Department from 1947-74 - shortly before his death in 1995.
