- Co-operative clears fuzzy fence - Wonderware Corporation and Inform Software Corp jointly announced at the opening of the Hannover Fair that they are offering a plug-in ActiveX module for the Wonderware FactorySuite automation software package that adds fuzzy logic capabilities for PC-based control and process visualisation applications.
- Top position in Europe - Intellution the supplier of industrial automation software has promoted David Taylor to the position of Managing Director, Northern Europe.

- DSP Board Achieves 4 GFLOPS Performance - Raising the bar yet again on digital signal processor (DSP) performance, Pentek, Inc. has announced an industry-standard 6U VME board based on the TMS320C67x DSP from Texas Instruments, the worldÍs leader in DSP solutions. The board can be configured with one to four ïC67x providing up to 4 GFLOPS of floating-point power performance. This performance will enable next-generation advanced applications and bring faster speed, precision and dynamic range to applications including wireless local loop base stations, beam-forming base stations, virtual reality 3-D graphics, voice mail, speech recognition, audio, radar, industrial control, atmospheric modeling, finite element analysis and imaging and MRI.

- Name change - Following the recent merger between Agema Infrared Systems and FLIR Systems Inc (FSI) they have changed their name to FLIR Systems Ltd.

- Control from a standard cellular phone - Klinkmann will promote in Hannover the new GSM-Control software - the first solution making 2-way controls and dialogues possible, directly from a standard cellular phone (Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens etc.) through a PC to the field.
- CC in Europe - Also at Hannover will be Contemprary Cpontrols alongside the ARCNET User Group section.
- New web site - Gateway Chemical Technology, which offers clients an experienced workforce with a broad range of chemical R&D skills housed in a well-equipped, flexible facility, have just announced their new website.
- Temperature brochure - The new "Temperature Sensors" brochure from Labfacility incorporates a comprehensive guide to selecting and using thermocouple and RTD sensors. Talk to Neil Humpheries on +44 181 943 5331.

- Microsoft closes its MSN Internet Service in Ireland - Microsoft has decided it will no longer be an Internet Service Provider in Ireland and has recommended that its existing customers transfer to Ireland OnLine. Users of MSN.com are being advised to transfer by the end of the month although their email accounts will remain active until August 1.
Ireland OnLine is ISP to The Instrumentation Signpost.
- New vortex sizing and selection on CD-ROM - Sierra Instruments Inc has announced the publication of their new INNOVA Vortex Meter Sizing and Selection Program on CD-ROM.

- Ruggedized Pentium MMX and Pentium II Processor Board, Based upon the Intel Mobile Module - DynatemÍs DRC1 VME64 SBC features the Intel Mobile Module(IMM) and delivers high performance Pentium MMX (133 MHz to 266 MHz), providing the performance but without the thermal concerns sometimes associated with high speed Pentium processors.

- High accuracy measurement of dispersions - The TURBISCAN MA 1000 gathers information on the structure of dispersions, including their homogeneity and stability. The instrument was developed by the French company Formulaction who specialise in the formulation and analysis of dispersions, such as emulsions, suspensions and foams.

- New "Guide to CE Marking for AC Drives" - For users of AC Drives, Mitsubishi have provided a guide to te requirements of EU Directives and how they are to be interpreted. Full details from Chris Cusick.
- Controller ideal for multi-axis systems - GE Fanuc's latest high performance motion controller, the PowerMate-H is ideal for use with multi-axis systems. Part of the company's Motion Products family, PowerMate-H can control up to 6-axis and in addition can handle up to 6 different program paths.

- Technology Ireland is 30 - Congratulations and continued success to Technology Ireland, which is 30 years old this month. Volume 1 was launched in April 1969 at a cover price of 3/6d (17.5p), and coincided with the country's Third Programme for Economic and Social Development under then Minister for Industry and Commerce, George Colley. It is generally regarded as the Mother of technical publications in Ireland.
- Power plant condition assessment in Italy - Two new On-line Condition Assessment Systems are being supplied to Azienda Energetica Municipale of Turino (AEM) for turbine and auxiliary machinerry monitoring by Solartron. This will make a major contribution to a highly ambitious city-wide cogeneration and district heating project.
