  • Jubilee Pilgrimage to Tully
    dedicated to St Brigid
    Cabinteely, Co Dublin Ireland

    Jubilee Prayer
Lord give us the courage and commitment of our Saints
      To walk the pilgrim way.
To be reconciled to those we have hurt.
To be inspired by those around us who selflessly care for others.
To be challenged by the spirit in which our Celtic ancestors encountered God.
To walk with those on the margins of society.
Walk with us Lord, we pray you on our Pilgrim Way.
      Amen.

    Gabham molta Bhríde,

    Gabham molta Bhríde,
    Ionúin í hÉireann,
    Ionúin le gach tír í,
    Molaimis go léir í.

    Lóchrann geal na Laighneach.
    'Soilsiú feadh na tíre,
    Ceann ar óghaibh Éireann,
    Ceann na mban ar míne.

    Tig an geimhreadh dian dubh
    'Gearradh lena ghéire;
    Ach ar lá 'le Bríde
    Gar dúinn Earrach Éireann.

    Hymn to St Brigid
    (Traditional)

    Far above, enthroned in glory,
    Sweetest saint of Erin's Isle.
See thy children kneel before thee,
Turn on us a mothers smile.

    Sancta Mater, hear our pleading,
Faith and hope and holy love.
Sweet Saint Brigid spouse of Jesus,
Sent to us from heaven above.

Sweet Saint Brigid, all thy children,
Far and near, o'er land and sea.
'Mid the world and in the cloister
fondly turn with love to thee.

    Sancta Mater, soothe the mourner,
    Shield the weary tempted soul.
Sweet Saint Brigid, guide thy children
to that bright and happy home.

    St Brigid's Blessing

May Brigid bless the house wherein you dwell, bless every fireside, every wall and floor.
Bless every heart that beats beneath it's roof, and every tongue and mind forever more.
Bless every hand that toils to bring it joy, and every foot that walks its portals through.
This is my wish today, my constant prayer, may Brigid bless the house that shelters you.

    Private Pilgrimage Stations

As part of your pilgrimage you are invited to carry out the following 'Stations' (except during the public service)

    1. Walk clockwise around the church, praying 3 times the Our Father. The walk inside the chancel of the church, clockwise around the the table with the candles of faith of the eleven parishes; touch the cross while walking. Pray 3 times the Glory be to the Father.

2 Walk up the steps on the opposite side to church and walk around the ancient two armed cross saying 3 times ÔLord, by Your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free. You are the Saviour of the World.

3 As you draw near to Tully look across the valley towards the motorway, see the white wooden cross in a garden. This marks the very ancient graveyard, part of which was excavated last year and which formed part of the old monastic settlement in this district. In your prayers remember all those buried in these hallowed grounds.
